“Joy” and “fitness” are not typically spoken in the same sentence. I am a physical therapist, fitness coach, wife and mom of three who is on a joy filled journey to prove that those words actually go together quite well! The thing about joy is that it doesn’t always mean “happy.” It goes deeper than that, more like assurance, quiet confidence, a feeling of success. I believe that people of all ages can find joy in their own fitness journey no matter from where they are starting, and I can’t wait to help!
As a physical therapist I have heard every reason in the book why exercise is not joyful. I admit that I have proclaimed fitness as the opposite of joyful, but that is just because I had the wrong perspective. I knew that a healthy lifestyle was important, but to switch my mindset from one of skepticism to one of acceptance was a hard road. I could easily tell my patients what needed to be done, but I wasn’t taking care of myself in the meantime. My main excuse was that I didn’t have time. Turns out, I did, and I now I know how to help others who “have no time,” find it.
Health and fitness have become my passion, but I also have some good stories to tell about this thing called life. Mine includes three little blessings ages 9, 7, and 3, a cowboy husband, a little farm with several four-legged friends including dogs and horses, and a deep love for God, a fondness for coffee, boots of all kinds, ripped jeans and the simple life I never seem to accomplish.
